Chris Stuart grew up in Florida where he felt he had two choices: Learn to play the banjo or watch NASCAR. He picked up the banjo quickly, learning how to play by ear and writing his own music. He graduated from the University of the South with a degree in computer administration, and eventually moved to San Diego to work at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography. The pay was good, but his mind wandered to the gigs and jam sessions he performed with his former band, Highway 52. He's now dedicated a year of his life to pursuing a musical career to see where it leads. Stuart has written 45 songs, but only recorded 20. His band, Back Country, has played in 25 shows since they started performing together.
