1. Fold or hang items right out of the dryer. Get in the habit of bringing hangers to the laundry.

2. Allow for one towel per person per week. Even hotels now ask us to conserve water and reuse towels!

3. Have a different color towel for each family member and donate your other towels. Stick with dark towels that can be washed together and do not show dirt.

4. Launder sheets every two weeks. Limit your sheets to two sets per bed, one to have on the bed while one is in the wash. To keep the set together fold each set into one of its pillowcases for storage.

5. Avoid purchasing "hand wash only" clothing.

6. Purchase clothing that is wrinkle free. Good time management does not include ironing.

7. Break the wear-once-and-wash cycle; most clothes can be hung back up and worn again.

8. Children can do their own laundry with training at 10 years of age. Teach this life skill and take some of the work off you.

9. Each family member needs a personal hamper without a lid in their bedroom or bathroom, wherever clothing comes off. Make this a rule: Any clothing not in hampers does not get cleaned!

10. Find a local dry cleaner that picks up and delivers your dry cleaning. No more rushed trips to get to the dry cleaners before they close!
