Kohler presents: Simple Spa Treatments At HomeThere's nothing like a visit to a world-class spa to relax your body, rejuvenate your soul, and give your skin the pampering it deserves. After a few days, or even a few hours, of skin and body treatments at a spa, it can be difficult to go home and face the everyday world. Luckily, there are many different ways to create spa experiences right in your own bathroom, so you can indulge in a little decadence every day.
Jean Kolb has been with Kohler Co. for 25 years. In her current position as Director, Kohler Waters Spa, Jean is responsible for the financial success of the Kohler Waters Spa at the American Club, the Sports Core Health and Racquet Club, and a private member spa at Riverbend in Wisconsin. Jean also serves on the Board of Directors as Secretary and Treasurer of the International Spa Association and uses her free time to support many charitable organizations. Here she offers simple ideas for creating spa-style treatments at home:
- Try a cleansing facial.
One simple at-home spa treatment is a wonderful cleansing facial. Start by running a basin full of hot water, which will create billows of warm steam. Next lean over the basin, covering your head and the basin with a towel to enclose the steam.
- Soak in a hot bath.
Baths are wonderful because they give you an opportunity for a time out. To maximize the benefits of a hot, relaxing soak, make sure that you allow yourself at least fifteen to twenty minutes in the tub.
- Alternate hot & cold.
You should also, says Kolb, be aware of how to alternate the use hot and cold temperatures. When taking a long, hot bath, for example, try keeping a pitcher of ice water next to you. When you're feeling a little bit warm after about ten minutes in the bath, take some of that water and pour it over your leg, or over your shoulder area.
- Keep a cold compress handy.
It's also a great idea to have a nice cool compress next to you. If you put the cold compress on your forehead as your body soaks in the hot water, you'll experience a truly incredible feeling.
