EAA Adventure Fly-In (205)
Every July fliers from all over the world descend upon a small airport in Oshkosh, Wis., in fighter jets, passenger planes and vintage aircraft for the Experimental Aircraft Association Fly-In. Hear these pilots’ stories and learn about their love of airplanes in this very special Ride of Your Life.

EAA Adventure Fly-In Facts:
  • Attendance at this year’s AirVenture was estimated at 750,000.
  • There were about 10,000 aircraft flown to the event.
  • More than 2,500 show-planes were on display at AirVenture.

Stinson Aircraft Facts:

  • Eddie Stinson, the founder of Stinson Aircraft Company, was a WWI military pilot.
  • Eddie Stinson died when he crashed his plane, a Reliant, in Chicago in 1932.
  • There were 49 Stinson SR-6 Reliants built.

P-40 Facts:

  • The P-40 was a successful and versatile aerial weapon during the first half of WWII.
  • Prior to restoration, Dick Hansen’s P-40 spent 20 years as an ornament atop a gas station in Everett, Wash.
  • Top speeds reached up to 420 mph.

  • Lorraine’s Spartan is one of 34 made and one of a dozen still flying.
  • The Spartan was expensive when new, costing $25,000 in 1938.
  • Lorraine’s plane sat for 37 years prior to its recent restoration.
