If you've been putting off your household chores, here are a few simple ways to get them finished in no time:
If a light bulb has broken while you're trying to remove it, push a potato into the broken bulb and you can safely twist it off.
Clean up fresh oil stains in the garage by spreading kitty litter over the stain. Leave for a few hours and sweep up. The litter will absorb the oil.
To hang a picture on a plaster wall without cracking the surface, heat the nails first in a pot of hot water. The heated nails will easily puncture the plaster, with no cracks in the wall.
Use a plastic kitchen spatula when you remove nails. Place it under the head of the hammer while you lever a nail out to protect the surface underneath.
Run an old pair of pantyhose across the surface as a final step in sanding wood. If it snags, lightly sand and clean the surface. Repeat the test until the pantyhose glide across the wood smoothly and without snagging.
