Plants add a lot to the décor, but they can fade fast without the proper care. So here are some tips to keep them looking their best:
Plants need sunshine, but dust can filter out as much as 50 percent of the sun's rays. A gentle rub with the inside of a banana peel will remove the dust and shine your plant's leaves.
Plants also need water, but ordinary tap water may not be enough to keep them healthy. Instead, cool water from boiled potatoes or spaghetti and use it to water plants.
An ailing plant might need a cup of tea, or rather a cooled, diluted watering of tea. Tea leaves carry soluble nutrients that are absorbed through the soil and will help the plant thrive.
If you have forgotten to water your plant regularly, don't just throw a cup onto the dry soil. The soil will not easily absorb the surface water, which may lead to rotting. Instead first use a kitchen fork to gently scrape the surface, aerating the soil and giving the water a place to drain.
