Opposite Directions (109)
Sunjay and Janine Patil get expert advice on how to succeed in business and in their relationship.

Problem: Working couple needs time together.
Solution: Turn back the clock.

  • Make a wish list.
  • Schedule dates together.
  • Reclaim free time.
  • Commit to your schedule.

Tips: Enriching your life together.

  1. Continue courting. Schedule date night once a week to help your relationship stay strong.

  2. Discuss domestic duties to determine who prefers to do what chore.

  3. Create shopping lists together. You’ll both get what you need and you could actually learn to like something new.

Tips: Setting up a Home Office.

  1. Buy refurbished equipment from large corporate offices. For the same cost as new phones, computers and copiers designed for home use, you’ll get sturdier equipment with more features.

  2. Upgrade your machines instead of replacing them. You can use generic parts to save even more money.

  3. Instead of using dial up service for your computer, get a DSL high-speed Internet service. For a low monthly fee, you can have instant, unlimited access to the Internet without tying up a phone line in your home.

  4. When you need help, hire students and part-timers. There are plenty of computer smart students and moms re-entering the workforce who would prefer to work half days.
