It's every camper's worst nightmare: getting lost in the wilderness. Just in case, here are some survival tips:
No compass? Look around for clues. Moss grows on the north side of trees. Spider webs face south. The tops of evergreens lean east and the sun sets in the west.
Know your bears! If you get attacked, the right response is crucial. If it's a grizzly or brown bear, be quiet and back off slowly. No luck? Then curl up on the ground, lock your hands behind your head and play dead. If it's a black bear, make yourself seem bigger by standing tall, waving your arms and making lots of loud noises.
Carry something shiny, like an aluminum can. It can be used to signal a rescue effort if needed.
