  • Some of the best clothing to take on camping trips is made from woven synthetics, which breathe well, wick moisture away from your skin and dry quickly.
  • Stay away from cotton. It doesn't dry readily, which is particularly dangerous in cold weather, and it doesn't keep you warm. You could get hypothermia wearing cotton in extreme temperatures.
  • Synthetic or wool socks will wick away moisture and both textiles help prevent blisters. This is not the case with cotton.
  • When camping, the one thing you can count on is the weather changing. So dress in layers you can add or remove.
  • Dark clothes attract bugs, so avoid more mosquitoes in warm weather by wearing lighter clothing.
  • Boots should have good treads for the terrain you're walking on, fit well and provide good support.
