In the south, it's fruits and berries. But throughout the country, numerous small family-run businesses pass secret blends from generation to generation.
There's no real loyalty to the big-brand names and lots of tasty reasons to check out small maker varieties. And take note: American-made Schnapps, sweetened and made with industrial grain alcohol, is an entirely different spirit.
