Mauna Kea Resort is a Hawaiian Island Paradise
Hotelier Laurance Rockefeller created the world-renowned Mauna Kea Resort
more than 30 years ago in beautiful Kauna'oa Bay on Hawaii's Big
Island. Originally located on an inaccessible patch of black lava in
with two beautiful beaches, today the Mauna Kea Resort features the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, which opened in 1994 within walking distance from the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel.
The Mauna Kea Beach Resort also features the incomparable Mauna Kea Golf Course. Created by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., the 18-hole championship Mauna Kea Golf Coursepresents dramatic changes in elevation, large undulating greens and 120
well-placed bunkers. There are incredible panoramic views of the ocean
and land, including snow-capped Mauna Kea, rugged lava beds and crystal
blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. One of the most spectacular features
is the famous 3rd hole where surging water meets the rocky shoreline
creating one of the most breathtaking views in golf.
Other activities at the Mauna Kea Hawaii Resort
include all types of water activities, such as swimming, snorkeling,
scuba diving, sailing, kayaking, whale watching and deep-sea fishing.
At night, guests step onto a circular lava outcropping overlooking the
Kauna'oa Bay to watch the manta rays swim. There's also a Spa and
Fitness center where guests can indulge themselves in a relaxing
massage, making it a truly luxurious golf spa getaway.
