GPS Navigation SystemsDo you find that driving directions given by friends are often incomplete, or just plain wrong? Are you sick of pulling off the road to examine a map, only to find that it doesn't even cover the right area? If so, you may be ready to take the next step in navigation technology with a state-of-the-art GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) system for your car or truck.
Anton Tumas has worked with cars for four years, and has been an installer with Sounds Good, in Southern California, for 1 1/2 years. Here he explain the benefits of the latest vehicle GPS systems:
- More than maps.
GPS systems are a lot more than just maps. They are interactive systems that give you access to all types of geographical information, from what street you're driving on to what landmarks and businesses are nearby. The systems can be mounted in any vehicle.
- Business information.
With the correct software, GPS systems can let you search locations from restaurant and movie theaters to museums, sports arenas, and ski resorts? all with the touch of a button.
- Info by phone number.
Some systems even let you enter the phone number of a business to automatically bring up the address and driving directions.
- Choose DVD Rom.
Tumas recommends choosing a GPS system that reads data from a DVD Rom disc. Older system that use CD Roms require users to install a new disc for every region of travel, but DVD systems typically use a single disc for the entire country, with the disc being updated annually.
- Experience the convenience.
Once you see how easy it is to navigate and access information with GPS systems, says Tumas, you'll want them in all your vehicles.
