Geico presents: Staying Safe on the RoadThere are some very simple steps you can follow to ensure that you are staying as safe as possible on the road.
- Properly adjust your mirrors.
Safety starts in the driveway. Check tires for wear and proper inflation. Before starting your car, make sure that everyone is buckled-up securely and that mirrors, seats and headrests are properly adjusted.
- Avoid Distractions.
Minimize distractions that can take your focus off the road. Make your music selections before leaving and consider muting or turning off your cell phone unless it's voice-activated or 'hands-free."
- Get in the right state of mind.
Keep stress in check so you're relaxed and clear-headed behind the wheel. Leave plenty of time to get to your destination and avoid driving when you're upset. If you're feeling sleepy while driving, pull over and stretch your legs or take a short nap.
- Review basic safe driving rules.
Don't wait until you need to renew your driver's license to familiarize yourself with the rules of the road. A periodic review of basic safe driving practices and traffic laws will help you be a better driver.
