DePasquale Plaza is the perfect place for beginning or ending a day on Federal Hill, Providence's famous Italian neighborhood. This leafy square may well be considered a destination in its own right, particularly on the summer nights it lends its space to Opera Providence performances. The plaza is surrounded by outdoor seating for the neighborhood's restaurants.
Gepetto's, owned by Hotel Dolce Villa proprietor Gianfranco Marrocco, dishes up pizza, pasta and sandwiches. If, at some point, the plaza's fountain and people-watching no longer captivate, it may be time for dessert and a coffee. Try Caffe Dolce Vita, also owned by Marrocco. It's home to what has been described as the city's best tiramisu as well as an assortment of imported gelati.
