The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes

Posh accommodations and impeccable service make the Ritz-Carlton an ideal getaway for travelers in search of high-end luxury in the Orlando area. The 584-room hotel, unveiled in the summer of 2003, shares an 18-hole Greg Norman-designed golf course, an extravagant outdoor swimming pool and a luxury spa and fitness center with the neighboring JW Marriott, all set in an expansive resort complex a few miles east of Walt Disney World. Despite its proximity to the nonstop entertainments of Disney World, the property attempts to envelop its guests in a pervasive atmosphere of elegance and serenity.

Guest rooms at the Ritz-Carlton feature spacious floor plans with Italianate interiors, private balconies, marble bathrooms and first-class amenities. Rates typically begin at around $400 to $500 a night, but even if you manage to score a lower off-season rate, brace yourself for a steep bill at the end of your stay. Extra charges for meals, golf, spa treatments, valet parking and other services can really add up, and this is not the kind of property where you can easily duck out for a cheaper cup of coffee or a fast-food lunch.
