Gatorland
No talking mice at this pre-Disney classic, just real live alligators

For a quintessential Florida experience, visit Gatorland. A one-of-a-kind, protected habitat for both man and beast, Gatorland is a 110-acre theme park and nature conservatory at the head of the Florida Everglades. Once you’ve experienced Gatorland, you’ll see why it has come to be known as the Alligator Capital of the World. And to think, it all began in 1949 as a roadside attraction!

Long before Orlando became known as a fantasyland destination of theme parks, there was Gatorland, a genuine homegrown tourist attraction where visitors could get up close and personal with Florida’s notorious toothy reptiles. Despite humbly marketing itself as "Orlando’s Best Half Day Attraction," Gatorland offers up value in the form of both education and fun. After getting to know the locals (reptiles, that is), cool off at Gator Gully Splash Park, ride the Express Railroad, discover feathered friends at the Very Merry Aviary or visit more traditionally cuddly creatures at Allie’s Barnyard.

While Gatorland has been updated and expanded over the years, it still retains its original folksy atmosphere, with live "Gator Wrestlin’" demonstrations and the "Gator Jumparoo," in which big alligators leap out of the water to snatch food from a trainer’s hand.

If cartoon characters and movie-based attractions aren’t quite your cup of tea, swing by Gatorland. You’ll be surprised at how much fun getting to know our reptile friends can be.
