6. Mori Art Museum Tokyo, Japan

Claim to Fame: Ultra-modern and innovative gallery
This impossibly chic museum occupies the top two floors of a new 54-story skyscraper in bustling downtown Tokyo. Perhaps its most nontraditional touch is its lack of a permanent collection; the Mori houses temporary exhibits only and viewing hours change with each exhibit. Unlike many museums, the Mori is open late (until midnight on weekends) to attract a hip and happening crowd.
From January to May 2007, the Mori will be running an exhibit entitled "All About Laughter: Humor in Contemporary Art" alongside a tribute to the smile in traditional Japanese art, proving that high art and fun can coexist.
