Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
Teton Village, Wyoming

Located 12 miles from Jackson, Wy. and five hours from Salt Lake City, Utah, killer snow, challenging ski runs and warm western hospitality make Jackson Hole the perfect winter getaway.

Resort stats: Jackson Hole's two mountains, Apres Vous and Redezvous, are home to some of North America's most challenging ski trails, with 50 percent of the16 trails marked "expert" and vertical drops of 4,139 feet. The ski area is also famous for its ample snowfall – an average of 459 inches per year. There is still plenty to do off the black diamond runs, though. The START (Southern Teton Area Rapid Transit) bus system makes it easy to zip around the valley for great shopping and dining.

When to go: This year's winter season runs from November 28 to April 4, 2010.
