The charming, family-friendly Pequot Hotel seems taken straight from a child’s fantasy of the ideal summer retreat. Hanging baskets of flowers brighten a white covered porch, welcoming hosts lay out plates of homemade cookies. There’s a shabby-chic vibe to the quaint and cozy rooms. While the Pequot might not be the destination of choice for design-hotel aficionados, beach lovers looking for a homey, reasonably priced bed near the ocean will love it here, savoring their coffee and a muffin on one of the deck’s rocking chairs. The Oak Bluffs location is tops; it’s only a five-minute walk to the shops and restaurants of Circuit Avenue, and the beach is just as close.
