Bicycle Bliss
Bikes are better than cars for exploring the island

Bicycles are the best way to get around the Vineyard.

Bicycling through Martha’s Vineyard is one of the island’s special pleasures. You can rent them on the island. An especially picturesque route leads from Edgartown to Oak Bluffs, along Seaview Avenue; it’s a six-mile trip that rewards riders with fabulous sea views the length of the trip. Continue on, just over three miles, to reach Vineyard Haven, with views of its harbor along the way.

If a six-mile bike ride isn't your speed, take the ferry from Edgartown to Chappaquiddick, then bike two miles to Wasque Beach, a secluded spot for first-rate sunbathing. Wherever the journey takes you, return to Edgartown for a hearty dinner in honor of all your physical exertion. The Offshore Ale Company serves their own beers, plus pub-style food like burgers, steaks, and regional seafood, and is a good choice for a calorie reload.
