Be Prepared Landing a table at Al Forno
By Diane Vadino
Al Forno, one of the city's landmark Italian restaurants, generally doesnt take reservations, and its popularity can make getting a table on any given night a challenge (the restaurant will accept them for parties of six or more during some weeknights and for some holidays).
Restaurant employees say the best bet is to try for a table Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights; early birds are also rewarded on Saturdays when the restaurant opens at 4 p.m. and usually isn't filled until 5 p.m. One key feature: Hosts will take cell phone numbers from prospective diners, allowing them to explore the shops of Wickenden Street while they wait.
