Little Bighorn Battlefield, Mont. The Site of Custer's Last Stand
Little Bighorn Battlefield is in eastern Montana, 65 miles from Billings. The Battle of Little Bighorn took place over two days in 1876 and was a last-ditch effort by Native Americans to preserve their way of life. On this site Sitting Bull led a force of Lakota, Cheyenne and Arapaho against the soldiers, killing every last troop in George Custer's 7th Cavalry. Visit the museum to learn about the battle, the war, Custer and the weapons employed in the battle. Memorials and grave sites throughout the park honor the fallen on both sides.
