Canyon de Chelly, Ariz. The Most Sacred Place on Earth Canyon de Chelly is spread across 131 square miles of spectacular Four Corners canyon land, encompassing numerous archaeological sites from the Anasazi, Hopi and Navajo people. This park exists wholly within Navajo tribal lands in northeastern Arizona. Popular sites include Antelope House, Spider Rock and Mummy Cave, an Anasazi cliff dwelling that dates to A.D. 600. Most visitors experience the canyon from above, following scenic routes along the north and south rim. To enter the canyon for a better view, visitors must hire a Navajo guide.
