Talimena Scenic Drive
Arkansas and Oklahoma

The Talimena Scenic Drive is a National Scenic Byway in the Ouachita Mountains and National Forest. The road is lined with tall trees in a rainbow of colors and plenty of attractions along the way.

The route: The 54-mile route begins in Mena, Arkansas and stretches west to Talihina, Oklahoma.

Roadside attractions: At mile 15 of the drive, check out impressive valley views from a 2,600-foot elevation at Rich Mountain Fire Tower. Play a round of miniature golf or visit the animal farm at Queen Wilhemina State Park.

The Queen Wilhemina Inn, also known as Arkansas’s Castle in the Clouds, is a great place to pick up a box lunch. You will pass more historic sites, scenic overlooks and a pioneer cemetery as you round out the end of the drive.
