National Cherry Blossom Festival®

Cherry blossoms star at this annual commemorative event celebrating Tokyo's gift of 3,000 cherry trees to Washington, D.C., in 1912.

Every year the celebration expands, but the official parade along Constitution Avenue remains the centerpiece. Other events include the Smithsonian Kite Festival, Cherry Blossom Photo Safaris, regattas, river teas aboard a classic yacht and a fireworks show.

A must-see local favorite is the daily noon cultural performances where the Jefferson Memorial steps become a free outdoor amphitheater.
