Nestled in the heart of Virgin Islands National Park, the tent-cabins at Maho Bay camps overlook a private white-sand beach. St. John is the least populated Virgin Island, so it's ideal for a relaxing, nature-oriented trip.

The accommodations : The 114 roomy tent-cottages are built on platforms and connected by elevated walkways to avoid soil erosion. Each has its own living area and bedroom, and an open-air terrace to enjoy the beach view.

The food : Each tent-cottage has a propane stove, cooler, cooking utensils and access to a grill. If you'd rather eat out, there's an outdoor restaurant that serves breakfast and dinner every day.

Outdoor activities : The cabins are steps away from the beach, and the island's world-class snorkeling, sailing and scuba-diving.
