Recipe: Dale DeGroff's Whiskey Peach Smash The Wall Street Journal Weekend : Episode FLWSJ-312
Note: While this recipe uses a lighter Canadian whiskey, it will work equally well with different American whiskies.
Ingredients:
2 oz. Canadian whisky
4 small peach quarters
3 mint leaves
2 lemon pieces
1 oz. water
1/2 oz. simple syrup (recipe follows)
sprig of mint and peach slice for garnish
Muddle all ingredients except whiskey in a bar glass. Add whiskey and shake with ice. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass and garnish with a sprig of mint and a peach slice.
Simple Syrup
Stir equal parts granulated sugar and water in a saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil and cool, then use the reduction to sweeten cold drinks. Refrigerate in an airtight container.
