Tony Townhouses (107)Take a look at townhouses restored to their original forms by people with a passion for architecture and interior design. Our first stop is the 18th century Lisbon home of the designer Malu Péreira. The elegant home, once an old building in a bad part of town, was rescued by the designer, restored to perfection and filled with treasures from around the world.
Then, we travel to Paris to visit Patrick Frey, owner of the world-renowned fabric house Pierre Frey. Frey shares decorating ideas developed to create privacy and storage spaces in his rental home.
Next, tour the typical English townhouse of the designer Sally Metcalf—a terrace house decorated with traditional fabrics and antiques.
Finally, we visit one of Madrid's top interior designers, Pascua Ortega, in his 18th century abode. Decorated in typical Spanish baroque style, the beautiful home features grand living rooms, a cozy library, and a foyer with wall-to-wall neo-gothic paneling.
Lisbon Designer Home Facts:
- Malu Péreira's townhouse was built after Lisbon's devastating 1755 earthquake, which measured an estimated 9.0 on the Richter scale and lasted a full 10 minutes.
- Péreira's color scheme was inspired by the time she spent living in Mexico and her fascination with India. The two countries are known for using color to the utmost.
