Forsyth Island, New Zealand (104)
Located between the north and south islands of New Zealand in the South Pacific, you'll find a secluded slice of heaven known as Forsyth Island. Located in the Marlborough Sound, Forsyth Island is a popular destination point. Travel with an Arizona family, the Felixes, to the beautiful island.

Forsyth is uninhabited—except for a caretaker couple—and features a lone hilltop lodge called Paru Paru. Follow the Felixes as they partake in a number of outdoor activities available on the island, including kayaking, fishing, and water skiing. Hike the 6,000-foot mountains of the island and join the kids as they visit some tidepools, where they encounter some of the island's friendly wildlife.

Forsyth Island Facts:

  • Paru Paru Lodge has three bedrooms and three baths; it sleeps six to eight people.

  • Order groceries in advance, or pay for all meals to be prepared and delivered by caretakers.

  • Day excursions include tours of New Zealand's nearby wine country vineyards, whale watching, or visits to neighboring islands.
